Medical Grade Photo Therapy System

Our medical grade phototherapy system utilizes 3 different wavelengths of 630nm (red) and 880nm (near infrared) and 420nm (blue) for our phototherapy procedures. These wavelengths are all within the range that clinical studies have found effective. These lights can be used individually or in combination depending on patient needs.

Phototherapy Regimens

Anti-aging

This pulsed 20 minute treatment is designed to re-hydrate the face, and increase collagen and elastin formation resulting in a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles. It aids in decreasing flaccidity, lifting sagging tissues and restoring skin tone and texture resulting in an overall improvement erasing years from the face. Ten treatments are recommended. Maintenance once a month or as needed can prolong the youthful appearance.

Pigmentation

This pulsed 20 minute regimen is intended to improve discoloration caused by sun damage, chemical build-up, chemical reactions from chemical peels, and excessive use of skin damaging products. This process helps to normalize the melanin within the skin. The amount of treatments needed vary depending on the amount of damage to the skin and age. Twelve treatments are recommended for mild discoloration and 15-20 treatments for moderate discoloration, over 8-12 week period. Severe discoloration may require IPL or Laser followed by ten treatments of phototherapy, at an interval of 2-3 times per week.

Scars

This pulsed 20 minute regimen softens the scar tissue. Initially the scar will flatten and widen. This is a normal process in scar reduction. With a few more sessions, the scar will narrow and become completely flat. This treatment is especially effective on acne scarring with pits. Hypertrophic and keloid scars may not respond as well to this regimen and may require additional regimens or used in conjunction with other scar treatments that we provide. An initial 10-15 treatment for new scars and 20-25 treatments for old scars is recommended. The entire program takes 12 weeks.

Preventive care
Phototherapy Near Infrared LED Lights (880 nm)

Near Infrared (880 nm)

This pulsed 20 minute regimen is designed to increase blood circulation and bring more nutrients to the skin’s surface which helps to keep the skin from breaking down. It also helps to normalize dry or oily skin, achieving an overall improvement in skin tone and texture. An initial of 10 treatments are recommended over a period of 10-12 weeks.

Flaccid Skin

This pulsed 20 minute regimen focuses on skin retraction by increasing circulation and bringing nutrition to damaged tissue. This program is particularly effective over the abdomen, neck and upper chest. Treatments should be applied twice per week and may require between ten – fifteen treatments.

Pain & inflammation

This regimen is for patients who experience persistent problems such as joint and muscle discomforts well as inflammation. It is also often used within 72 hours of any traumatic event including post-surgical interventions to reduce scarring and encourage normal tissue formation. A minimum of 6 treatments over a 2 week period is recommended. The actual amount needed varies from patient to patient

Recovery
Phototherapy Red LED Lights (630 nm)

Red Light (630 nm)

Near infrared light is primarily used to help in the recovery process. It can be used to jump start cellular repair progression prior to undergoing an invasive treatment such as a tummy tuck or laser surgery. Near infrared light can also be used in the post care procedure to reduce bruising, swelling, and sensitive skin often associated with other facial treatments or surgeries.  A minimum of 6 treatments over a 2 week period is recommended. The actual amount needed varies from patient to patient

Circulation

The 630 nm wavelength stimulates the mitochondria and improves superficial circulation. This regimen is designed to treat edema, redness and issues on the surface of the skin. It is often used as part of the post care regimen following other ablative cosmetic procedures such as aggressive chemical peels, microdermabrasion, IPL and laser resurfacing. Twice weekly until the skin condition resolves. Actual treatment amount varies from patient to patient.

Mild to moderate Acne

This 30 minute regimen is designed to heal damaged skin and significantly reduce the load of P. acnes, the bacteria responsible for causing acne vulgaris. It does this by utilizing a combination of blue and red LED light. As the initial 15 minutes of blue light enters the sebaceous glands, oxygen radicals form within the bacteria, killing them. It is followed by 15 minutes of red light, that aids in the healing process of the skin and prevents infection and scarring. This regimen is extremely effective and has virtually no known side effects. 9 treatments over an 8 week period is recommended.

Blue Only Regimen for Severe Acne
Phototherapy Blue LED Lights (420 nm)

Blue Only (420 nm)

This regimen is designed to target severe acne problems or mild to moderate acne that has not previously shown a notable response to light therapy. It does this by causing skin cells to become more sensitive to light. Skin cells will be treated with 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and then exposed to NeoLTS’s blue light, causing it slough off. This regimen is effective in eliminating follicular bacteria as well as selectively shrinking and destroying over-productive sebaceous glands. This strong treatment can cause reactions such as stinging or burning, prickling, itching, erythema, scaling or crusting, edema, and possible hypo- or hyper-pigmentation. Due to the intensity of this treatment, it is not appropriate for patients with Porphyria, taking light sensitive medications, pregnant or currently nursing. Usually only 1 treatment is needed.
